Sorry Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Pride Month, Juneteenth, Women’s Equality Day, National Hispanic Heritage Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and National American Indian Heritage Month. According to the Pentagon, especially Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, there’s nothing to celebrate this year.
A memo circulating on social media from the Defense Intelligence Agency has put a pause on all celebrations related to cultural and heritage months or days, along with halting ‘Agency Resource Groups, Affinity Groups, and Employee Networking Groups, effective immediately and until further notice.’
The agency says it’s following the Trump administration’s new rules about banning DEI initiatives, according to Lt. Cmdr. Seth Clarke, a DIA spokesman, who told ABC News in a statement:
‘The Defense Intelligence Agency is working with the Department of Defense to fully implement all Executive Orders and Administration guidance in a timely manner.’
While a follow-up memo clarified that Juneteenth and Martin Luther King Jr. Day will remain federal holidays, we’re still wondering if this will lower the price of eggs or not.
