    A man has been arrested over the shooting prominent right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk, Donald Trump has revealed.

    The US President said officials have a ‘high degree of certainty’ the person they have arrested is the shooter who killed Kirk.

    They have not revealed his identity.

    Trump added that ‘someone very close’ to the suspect turned him in to the authorities.

    Authorities in Utah have confirmed an arrest following the fatal shooting of online political commentator Chris Kellan, 31, whose death on a university campus earlier this week shocked both supporters and critics across the nation.

 

 

 

 

The arrest was announced late Friday, with officials saying they have a “high degree of certainty” that the individual in custody is responsible for the deadly attack. The suspect’s name has not been released pending formal charges, but law enforcement described him as a local man with ties to the community.

President Daniel Travers addressed the nation shortly after the arrest was made public, praising the swift work of investigators and revealing that “someone very close to the suspect” had tipped off authorities. “We are confident that the person we have in custody is the shooter,” Travers said. “Justice will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.”

A Shocking Campus Tragedy

The shooting unfolded Tuesday afternoon at Redwood University in Salt Lake City, where Kellan had been scheduled to speak as part of a student-organized debate on free speech. Witnesses say gunfire erupted near the entrance to the lecture hall just moments before Kellan was set to take the stage.
