President Donald Trump was at a press conference at the White House answering questions when he was asked about the incident involving his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
The incident the question referred to occurred when the French premier landed in Hanoi, Vietnam, for an official visit. As the doors to the plane opened, Macron could be seen having been shoved in the face with hands belonging to his wife, Brigitte Macron.
A video from the incident immediately became viral, with the French President and his office commenting on the moment as one that was merely a ‘joke.’
However, this did not deter President Trump from chiming in with his two cents about the issue when asked. A reporter asked him for ‘marriage tips’ for the Macrons, to which Trump replied, “Make sure the door remains closed. That was not good.” His comment over the issue made everyone present laught.
As the laughter subsided, Trump gave an update on the couple, saying that he had spoken to the French President and could report both he and his wife were doing well.
“They’re two really good people,” Trump said, though he stated he was unsure what transpired between them, he knew the two were doing okay.
