Jackson’s health has been a subject of increasing concern among fans since 2021, when he publicly revealed his diagnosis of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a hereditary neurological condition that affects the peripheral nerves.
The condition, which Jackson had actually been quietly battling for over a decade before his public disclosure, progressively impacts mobility, balance, and muscle strength.
Dr. Jennifer Weston, a neurologist not involved in Jackson’s care but specializing in neuromuscular disorders, explained: “Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease affects the nerves that control muscles, particularly in the extremities. Over time, patients typically experience muscle weakness, decreased sensation, and balance issues. For someone who performs standing for extended periods, this presents obvious challenges.”
