Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) recently recounted a personal experience on Real Time with Bill Maher when his luggage was stolen in San Francisco two years ago.

While discussing the incident, Schiff downplayed the impact of soft-on-crime policies, despite his long history of supporting them.

He acknowledged troubling polling showing growing dissatisfaction with Democratic leadership in California, with nearly 50% of voters considering a Republican candidate for governor in 2026, citing concerns over crime and cost of living.

Schiff also reflected on his conversation with a Target cashier who expressed frustration with Democratic policies, calling them “a***oles.” The senator seemed to recognize the growing crime issues but has yet to fully support tough-on-crime measures championed by Republicans.
