In a statement that quickly gained traction on social media, McConnell remarked, “America will not be made great again by those who are content to manage our decline.”
In a post on X, Vance expressed, “Mitch’s vote today—similar to much of his recent career—represents one of the most notable acts of political pettiness I’ve ever witnessed.” The vice president’s remarks were echoed by numerous conservatives who were frustrated with McConnell’s ongoing disputes with and treatment of the president.
Kentucky businessman Nate Morris commented on X, “Elbridge Colby is among the finest foreign policy minds in the GOP, and it’s disheartening to see Mitch McConnell continue to align with Democrats to undermine President Trump. For this reason, whoever succeeds Mitch in the Senate must be a complete departure from his approach—it’s time for a change!”
In reaction to Vance’s statement, Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) remarked, “I’m pleased to see things evolving.”
