The soap opera world is mourning the loss of a familiar face

obert Kelker-Kelly, best known for playing Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives, has died at the age of 62.

The actor died in Missouri on October 3, 2026, after emergency responders were called to his home.

According to dispatch audio obtained by Page Six, Kelker-Kelly was unconscious and not breathing when help arrived. A dispatcher reported that CPR was underway, while an automated message identified the emergency as a cardiac arrest.

First responders carried out advanced lifesaving measures, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Kyle Gaines of the St. Charles County Ambulance District later confirmed that Kelker-Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. His official cause of death has not been publicly released.

For decades, however, Kelker-Kelly was known not for his final moments, but for the characters he brought to life on daytime television.

From struggling actor to soap star

Born April 18, 1964, in Wichita, Kansas, Robert Kelker-Kelly would go on to build a long career in television and theater — but his path to Hollywood was anything but straightforward.

Even as a teenager, Kelker-Kelly had a rebellious streak. He was expelled from a private high school in Kansas after an altercation with the dean of students.

“I decked the dean of students. I was very rebellious and vocal,” he told the St. Cloud Times in 1992.

Fortunately, he had an uncle who was chairman of the English department at St. Cloud State University. His strong test scores, combined with his uncle’s influence, helped get him admitted. But college didn’t last long. He dropped out after just one year.

He was only 17 and, by his own admission, completely lost and unsure of what he wanted to do with his life.

Acting eventually gave him a sense of direction. He began performing with a local theater before joining traveling theater troupes that took him across the country.

That experience eventually led him to television, and in 1987, he landed the role of Sam Fowler on Another World — the beginning of the soap career that would make him a familiar face to millions of viewers.

Worked as a secretary

The opportunity came at a time when he was struggling financially in Los Angeles. In a 2013 interview with We Love Soaps, he recalled working as a secretary while trying to make ends meet. At one point, he said, he was sleeping in his Jeep or staying on friends’ couches and floors.

Landing Another World changed everything.

“Another World was a godsend,” he recalled
