Boy dies on first day learning how to swim at summer camp

A 9-year-old boy died on his first day learning to swim at a Virginia summer camp — devastating his mom, who demanded answers about the baffling tragedy.

The child, King Overton, was unresponsive when he was pulled from a pool at Swim RVA in Chamberlayne and given CPR at around 2:30 p.m Monday, according to Henrico County Police and camp staffers.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he died, NBC’s Channel 12 reported.

I’m devastated. I’m numb. I’m starting to get mad. It’s just a bunch of emotions all built at once,” LaTaisha Johnson said of her son’s death Thursday.
