On the night of March 18th, Iranian missiles struck Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The world’s largest LNG export facility.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Four missiles were intercepted. One got through.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

QatarEnergy confirmed it: “extensive damage.” Multiple fires. The Pearl GTL facility destroyed. Two of the plant’s 14 production trains obliterated.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

No casualties. But the damage?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Permanent.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here are the numbers that should be on every front page.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

QatarEnergy’s CEO Saad al-Kaabi confirmed to Reuters this morning:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

17% of Qatar’s entire LNG export capacity \u2014 gone.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

12.8 million tonnes per year. Offline.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Repairs: 3 to 5 years minimum.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The damaged units cost approximately $26 billion to build.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ExxonMobil holds a 34% stake in one of the damaged trains and 30% in another. This isn’t just Qatar’s problem. It’s Wall Street’s problem.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And the collateral damage goes beyond LNG:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

– Qatar’s condensate shipments expected to fall 24%.<\/p>\n

– LPG output down 13%.<\/p>\n

– Helium production down 14%.<\/p>\n

– Naphtha and sulphur output both down 6%.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now connect the dots.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Qatar supplies 20% of the world’s LNG.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ras Laffan has been shut since March 2nd \u2014 the first attack.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now the facility itself is extensively damaged.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Wood Mackenzie \u2014 one of the world’s leading energy consultancies \u2014 said Thursday that even when this war ends and the Strait of Hormuz reopens,<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Qatari LNG production will not fully resume within weeks as previously expected.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Their exact assessment: “The attacks fundamentally reshape the global LNG outlook.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Supply disruption to global natural gas \u2014 now likely to last longer than two months. Possibly years.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Europe is the most exposed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

European gas futures surged 35% after news of the Ras Laffan damage broke.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Germany entered this war with gas storage at just 20.6%. Netherlands at 10.7%.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

They were already dependent on Qatari LNG to replace Russian gas lost in 2022.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That replacement supply \u2014 now damaged for 3 to 5 years.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There is no spare capacity in the global LNG market to absorb this loss. The US is running at near full capacity. Australia can’t scale overnight.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The world is short 12.8 million tonnes per year. For years.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And here’s what nobody is saying out loud.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This attack happened in retaliation for Israel’s strike on South Pars.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

South Pars was struck. Iran hit Ras Laffan back.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Trump then threatened to destroy South Pars completely if Iran keeps hitting Qatar.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If he does \u2014 Iran said it will launch “complete destruction” of US energy facilities across the region.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is no longer a military war with energy consequences.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is an energy war.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And the world just lost 3-5 years of Qatari LNG production in a single night.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
