His dedication and quiet strength really moved me. I felt called to do something to recognize that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the young man, who was \u201cquietly showing the world what determination looks like,\u201d Mendoza captured a clip of him happily preparing burgers over a smoking grill and shared the clip on TikTok.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can see he is so proud to carry his medals,\u201d she wrote, noting that graduation ended after 10 p.m. \u201cTikTok, do your thing!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over 4.5 million views later, the world was in awe of a teenager who, rather than chase the spotlight, chose quiet service and steady dedication.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Quietly showed the world\u2019<br \/>\nAs likes and comments flooded in, Mendoza wasn\u2019t satisfied with simply showcasing Baker\u2019s hustle. She took it a step further and launched a GoFundMe to raise a few thousand dollars to help him with his post-secondary goals.<\/p>\n<p>To generate some buzz around the campaign, Mendoza shared another social media clip, inviting netizens to contribute and \u201cHelp this humble graduate chase his college dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile many graduates spent the night celebrating with friends and family, one young man quietly showed the world what determination looks like. Just after receiving his diploma \u2013 still proudly wearing his medals \u2013 he reported to his shift at Burger King,\u201d she writes on the GoFundMe, that\u2019s raised more than $230,000 of the $60,000 goal. \u201cHe didn\u2019t do it for attention. He doesn\u2019t even know his story went viral. But thousands of people were moved by his dedication, humility, and work ethic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll funds raised will go directly toward helping him with college tuition, books, supplies, and other educational needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Selfless\u2019<br \/>\nOn May 26, Mendoza returned to the Burger King and surprised the recent grad with the money raised for his future \u2013 at the time $6,000 \u2013 bringing him to tears.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019s ever noticed how selfless he is until now,\u201d Mycah Baker told the New York Post of her brother, the youngest of eight children. \u201cHe\u2019s always done these things without a lot of people seeing it. It\u2019s something that comes naturally to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur family is extremely grateful that somebody like Myke (his family nickname) is getting the attention that he\u2019s ultimately always deserved,\u201d Mycah added.<\/p>\n<p>Tearful gratitude<br \/>\nWhen the kind-hearted woman asked his plans for college, Baker explained he was financially restricted but was hoping to go to a trade school.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing Mendoza\u2019s TikTok followers, the young man \u2013 still overcome with emotion \u2013 said, \u201cThank you so much, I was thinking of taking a gap year because I didn\u2019t have money for school, but thank you to all of you.
