The Phantom of the Opera<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Love Never Dies<\/strong>, who passed away at 46 after a battle with\u00a0bowel cancer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Australian TV host Todd Woodbridge shared the news on Instagram,<\/p>\n

calling him\u00a0\u201cone of the greats\u201d<\/em>\u00a0and recalling his humor, kindness, and mentorship.<\/p>\n

\u201cBen was a star on stage as Phantom\u2026 More importantly he was one of the great humans,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he wrote.<\/p>\n

Lewis was diagnosed in\u00a0February 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Despite surgery and intensive chemotherapy, the aggressive cancer spread to his liver, lungs, and pelvis.<\/p>\n

Born to a family of opera singers, he trained at the\u00a0Royal College of Music<\/strong>\u00a0and the<\/p>\n

Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts<\/strong>, starring in major productions in Sydney and London.<\/p>\n

Ben was also the\u00a0primary caregiver for his wife, Melle Stewart<\/strong>, who suffered a severe stroke in 2021.<\/p>\n
