Jimmy Kimmel may face federal scrutiny after suggesting Charlie Kirk\u2019s accused killer was a MAGA supporter.<\/p>\n

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said on Benny Johnson\u2019s show he is considering an investigation into Kimmel and ABC.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors, however, describe 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as holding leftist views.<\/p>\n

Carr blasted Kimmel\u2019s remarks as \u201csome of the sickest conduct possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cWe could be called ultimately to be a judge on some of these claims that come up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Possible remedies, he suggested, could even include suspending Kimmel.<\/p>\n

Kimmel refused to back down, telling executives he would not \u201ckowtow\u201d to political pressure.<\/p>\n

ABC leaders and advertisers reportedly grew uneasy, while Sinclair and Nexstar threatened to pull ABC shows.<\/p>\n

Carr warned Disney and ABC that such \u201cone-sided political content\u201d could jeopardize their broadcast license.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
