Reba McEntire\u2019s past remarks about her stepson, Brandon Blackstock, and his high-profile divorce have resurfaced following his recent passing. The comments have taken on new meaning in light of the family\u2019s loss.<\/p>\n

Since the announcement of Brandon Blackstock\u2019s death at age 48 on August 7, 2025, comments his stepmother made about his divorce have resurfaced. Reba McEntire\u2019s remarks, originally shared in 2021, followed the news that Brandon and Kelly Clarkson were separating in 2020 after seven years of marriage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking about the former couple\u2019s separation, Reba explained that she wasn\u2019t going to take sides. In an interview, she\u00a0said<\/a>, \u201cKelly and I do talk, we text [sic] and I love them both, and so I can\u2019t play favorites because I\u2019ve been a friend of Kelly for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The country music icon was previously\u00a0married to Brandon\u2019s father<\/a>, Narvel Blackstock. After 26 years of marriage, Reba and Narvel released a joint statement in August 2015 announcing their mutual decision to part ways.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Their statement, which appeared on Reba\u2019s website,\u00a0read<\/a>, \u201cDespite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other,\u201d adding, \u201cThey have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

By December of that same year, the legendary country singer shared an update about the divorce in a Facebook comment,\u00a0writing<\/a>, \u201cNarvel and I are divorced. It was final [sic] October 28.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
