They were part of the Choeur d\u2019Enfants d\u2019\u00cele-de-France, a famous young choir that travels the world to play symphonies in churches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, witnesses told first responders that some of the children were ill during the performance because of a\u00a0<strong>\u201cstranger odour.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-22\"><\/div>\n<p>The first to arrive on the scene were Cambridge firefighters, who treated the 11\u201313-year-old children for non-life-threatening conditions before taking them to hospitals. Before the concert, none of the youngsters had been experiencing any health issues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>We did have one student within a choir group that was sitting on the front steps that wasn\u2019t actively seizing,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>Acting Fire Chief Thomas Cahill\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcvb.com\/article\/8-mass-children-taken-to-hospital-after-experiencing-seizure-like-symptoms\/65481203\">told Boston local news<\/a>\u00a0station WCVB at the scene.\u00a0<strong>\u201cThat quickly escalated into seven other people that had seizure-like symptoms.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There were about seventy persons at the concert. The workers stated they couldn\u2019t find anything alarming, despite some parents and kids reporting they smelt a fragrance to local news stations.<\/p>\n<p>As a precaution, hazmat teams searched the premises, but they couldn\u2019t find anything that seemed to have caused the disease.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-9\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>\u201cThis was somewhat unusual,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Cahill said.\u00a0<strong>\u201cIt was a routine medical call that quickly escalated into transporting eight children to the hospital. Not common.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the children\u2019s hospital admission, Cahill stated that authorities were still\u00a0<strong>\u201cnot sure\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>what might have caused the seizures.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-11\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>\u201cAt this time we are not sure of what caused the reaction,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Cahill told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2025\/07\/22\/metro\/cambridge-fire-department-rescues-paris-youth-choir\/#:~:text=The%20children%20were%20taken%20to,statement%20from%20the%20department%20said.\">The Boston Globe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Cambridge Fire Department posted information on the incident and answered comments on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CambridgeMAFire\/posts\/1048117597484326?ref=embed_post\">Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-13\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>\u201cAt approximately 730 pm, 22nd, companies responded to 29 Mt. Auburn St, St. Paul Parish, for a medical emergency. Eight people were treated for non-life-threatening medical emergencies on scene, and all were transported to medical facilities for further evaluation.
