An AMBER Alert issued early Sunday stated the child had last been seen in a white van heading southbound.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"Embed_wrapper__UQbow\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><iframe src=\"https:\/\/if-cdn.com\/AG4yUuD5?_showcaption=false&amp;app=1\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\" data-origwidth=\"\" data-origheight=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"adv\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ContentRenderer_paragraph__B2z36\">Melina\u2019s body was discovered by law enforcement on Sunday, July 20, at approximately 1:50 p.m. Police located her in a shallow section of a pond in Ticonderoga. Court documents allege that her body had been hidden under a log.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ContentRenderer_paragraph__B2z36\">Both Melina and her father were residents of Montreal, Canada.\u00a0<a class=\"Link_link__PUK08 Link_link__kvrlb\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news10.com\/news\/essex-county-news\/father-of-9-year-old-girl-found-dead-in-ticonderoga-in-custody\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"https:\/\/www.news10.com\/news\/essex-county-news\/father-of-9-year-old-girl-found-dead-in-ticonderoga-in-custody\/\">According to New York State Police<\/a>, the two had entered the United States legally on July 11 for a vacation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ContentRenderer_paragraph__B2z36\">They were due to return to Canada on Sunday, when Melina was expected to be returned to her mother\u2019s full-time custody. In a later version, he said that two unknown males had forced Melina into a van.
