President Trump has declared a national emergency over electricity after the trade war between the US and Canada intensifies.<\/p>\n
Trump wasted no time when he was sworn in for a second time as the 47th president by signing an order which imposed \u2018catastrophic\u2019 tariffs for Canada, Mexico and China.<\/p>\n
The 78-year-old suggested that Canada could avoid these tariffs by becoming the \u2018cherished 51st state\u2019 causing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to impose counter-tariffs on the US.<\/p>\n
<\/span>Premier of Ontario Doug Ford then went on to threaten shutting down power for 1.5 million US customers. He said if Trump wanted to \u2018try to annihilate Ontario\u2019 he will do \u2018everything \u2013 including cutting off their energy with a smile on [his] face,\u2019 and hit back \u2018twice as hard\u2019.<\/p>\n Ford later apologized to the American people and said it was not them but \u00a0\u2018[their] president that\u2019s causing the problem,\u2019.<\/p>\n Ford has now revealed in a press conference that Ontario \u2013 which provides electricity to Minnesota,\u00a0New York\u00a0and Michigan, will charge 25% more for electricity. As well as new market rules which mean any generator of electricity will add a 25% surcharge on electric that is sells to America.<\/p>\n Ford said: \u201cI will not hesitate to increase this charge.
