NYU\u2019s Stern School of Business became the college of choice for the president\u2019s youngest son last year \u2013 the institution is regarded as one of the top business schools in America.<\/p>\n

Kaya had been the president of NYU College\u00a0Republicans, but\u00a0had no choice but to step down after the comments she made about Donald and Melania Trump\u2019s son.<\/p>\n

She\u00a0told\u00a0Vanity Fair of Barron Trump: \u201cHe\u2019s sort of like an oddity on campus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kaya added: \u201cHe goes to class, he goes home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perhaps unsurprisingly she found herself heavily criticized online, with the College Republicans of America (CRA) labeling her comments \u2018inappropriate\u2019 and in conflict with its \u2018values and principles\u2019.<\/p>\n

As the story picked up more and more traction, Kaya ultimately resigned from her presidential role on Sunday night (February 16).<\/p>\n

Now, days later, she has broken her silence to address the controversy in an interview with the\u00a0New York Post.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u201dI\u2019ve been ki*lling myself trying to support the conservative movement,\u201d she said. \u201cEverybody knows that it\u2019s an uphill battle being a Republican at NYU.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve put my everything into building up my chapter. I built [attendance] up exponentially.<\/p>\n
