President Donald Trump has released a statement on his Truth Social platform following a heated meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, February 28.<\/p>\n

The two leaders, joined by Vice President JD Vance, gathered in the Oval Office to discuss Russia\u2019s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

In a video shared online, Trump can be heard telling Zelenskyy: \u2018You don\u2019t have the cards right now. With us, you\u2019ll start to have cards\u2026 You\u2019re gambling with the lives of millions of people! You\u2019re gambling with World War III!<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump later posted a statement online regarding the tense meeting, stating: \u2018We had a very meaningful discussion in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without such a conversation under intense fire and pressure. It\u2019s remarkable what emotions can reveal, and I\u2019ve concluded that President Zelenskyy is not ready for peace if America is involved, as he believes our involvement gives him a significant edge in negotiations.<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t seek advantage; I seek PEACE. He showed disrespect to the United States of America in its revered Oval Office. He can return when he is ready for peace.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

During the meeting on Friday, the two leaders were seen engaged in a heated exchange.<\/p>\n

Trump was heard telling Zelenskyy: \u201cYou either make a deal, or we\u2019re out.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t tell us how we\u2019re going to feel.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to solve a problem. Don\u2019t tell us what we\u2019re going to feel, because you\u2019re in no position to dictate that\u2026 You\u2019re not in a position to tell us how we\u2019re going to feel.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to feel strong and confident.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not in a strong position; you\u2019ve put yourself in a bad spot\u2026 You don\u2019t have the cards right now\u2026 You\u2019re gambling with the lives of millions of people.\u201d<\/p>\n

At one point, Vance interrupted, asking the Ukrainian president: \u201cIn this entire meeting, have you said thank you?<\/p>\n

\u201cYou went to Pennsylvania and campaigned for the opposition in October\u2014how about offering some words of gratitude for the United States of America and the president who\u2019s trying to save your country?\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump then added: \u201cYour country is in serious trouble. Hold on a second. No, no, you\u2019ve done plenty of talking. Your country is in big trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

The White House has also addressed the exchange, with Trump\u2019s special assistant and communications adviser, Margo Martin, posting on X: \u201cPresident Trump and Vice President Vance will always stand for America and those who respect our position in the world.
